"I switched from Plywood to Stabledge premium sub-floor. Stabledge panels are much easier to work with, go together easily and do not swell or split when they get wet. Stabledge is the product I ask for when building in the wet conditions of South Alabama."

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

  • Stabledge® from Norbord is the latest advance in OSB panels.  It is an engineered wood product ideally suited to sub-floor applications.
  • Stabledge® is strong, solid, dimensionally stable and consistent from panel to panel.  There are no knots, core voids or problems with delamination, and the panels will not buckle or warp.
  • But Norbord Stabledge® is more than that. The joints will not swell and will not require sanding even if the panels are exposed to moisture during the normal delays that can happen during construction. (However, exposure to moisture should be avoided in order to minimize the risk of development of mould and mildew.)

Stabledge® gives you an edge

  • Norbord Stabledge® has been field tested in North American markets. It repeatedly demonstrates the consistent high quality and performance properties builders look for in a premium product.
  • There is no edge swell and therefore no need for sanding the joints prior to the installation of finished floor coverings (always follow the floor covering and installation product’s application recommendations)
  • The panels are stable and always lay flat, with no buckling or warping. No sanding of joints means less labor and lower costs.

HANDLING AND STORAGE

  • Norbord OSB panels should be stored flat, indoors or under cover and protected from the elements.
  • When stacked, panels with supports banded to the units need to have the supports aligned.
  • If stacked, this blocking also needs to be aligned.
  • If stored outdoors, keep panels off the ground and on a flat base. Cover loosely to allow air circulation at the sides.
  • OSB should not be exposed to the weather or moisture on a continuous basis. However, Exposure-1 exterior bond rating indicates that unprotected exposure during normal construction periods will not adversely affect the structural properties.
  • Panels should be handled and stored with care to avoid damage and should be used on a first-in, first-out basis.

  3. Install panels with major strength axis perpendicular to supports.
  4. Install T&G panels with the grade stamp facing down.
  5. Gluing of sub-floor panels is always recommended and may be required.
