SEMEP is the mobile companion app for StablEdge desktop. Once you scan to connect your computer, you can follow conversations, handle approvals and questions, send messages or stop a run from your phone.
Before you start
- SEMEP works only together with StablEdge desktop. It cannot be used on its own.
- When the phone and computer are on the same network, they connect directly. When they are on different networks, they connect through the StablEdge encrypted relay. The phone and computer use an end-to-end encrypted channel, and the relay cannot decrypt your content.
- The phone acts as you at this computer: the desktop's current mode and permissions apply, and approvals are still requested.
Pairing
- Open StablEdge desktop on your computer, go to Settings › Remote Control › Experimental, and turn on "Phone connection (Beta)".
- A "Phone" entry then appears on the Remote Control page. Open it and click "Add phone"; the desktop app shows a phone pairing QR code.
- Open SEMEP on your iPhone and scan the code.
- Your computer asks "Allow this phone to connect?". If it is your phone, click "Allow" to finish pairing. Click "Reject" if you don't recognize it.
FAQ
Can I use SEMEP without StablEdge desktop?
No. SEMEP connects to your computer by scanning a code, and the conversations, approvals and questions you see on the phone come from StablEdge desktop. The desktop app must stay open.
Scanning fails or the phone cannot connect. What should I do?
- Make sure "Phone connection (Beta)" is on in the desktop app, and "Allow phones to connect" is on in the Phone page.
- Keep your computer on and StablEdge desktop open.
- Each QR code expires and can be used only once. If it has expired or says "This QR code has been used", click "Refresh QR code" and scan again.
- After scanning, click "Allow" on your computer. The prompt rejects automatically when the countdown ends, so confirm before then.
How do I unpair a phone?
In the desktop app, open the Phone page, find the phone under "Paired phones", click "Remove" and confirm. Turning off "Allow phones to connect" disconnects every phone.
What can a paired phone do?
Once paired, the phone can view this computer's conversations, send messages, handle approvals and questions, and stop runs, with the same permissions as you at this computer.
